“KILLER IN THE SMOG!” Batman and Commissioner Gordon try to uncover the mystery of a strangler who strikes during smoggy days and throttles his victims with a yellow ascot.
Batman stars in "The Killer in the Smog!" When a young woman is found murdered on a murky Gotham evening, Batman finds a message on the scarf she was strangled with informing him that she is the killer's second victim of the night. Meanwhile, Commissioner Gordon takes a call from one of his men on patrol who has found another strangled victim. On this body is a scarf reading "this is the third!" Establishing a link between the victims, Batman begins to investigate anyone known to both. Gordon's men find the "first" victim, and just as Batman is on his way to arrest someone, Gordon calls in and informs him they have found the killer in the smog - himself a victim of a hit and run. Batman points out that this isn't the smog killer and the scarf on the man has been planted by the real culprit. Heading for the local gym, Batman, Gordon and the police storm into a misty sauna to arrest not one killer, but three. Three men from the gym were each owed money by their victims - neither had the guts to strangle 3 victims, so the all killed one each, then tried to make it look like a madman was on the loose to cover their tracks. Didn't fool Batman, though.
Jason Bard stars in "The Case of the Forged Face!" Bard is arrested and brought before Commissioner Gordon on suspicion of plotting to kill a senator.Photo's suggest that Bard has been in crowds wherever the senator has been speaking, but the man in the crowd turns out to be a ringer. Bard and Gordon catch the imposter and prevent the assassination of the senator.
