Bruce's training
Review:
When people talk of Bruce Wayne's origin story they only focus on the murder of his parents and at some point in time he becomes Batman - The Dark Knight, but we never actually see his adventures in those years where he attain his training and knowledge. Sure we have panels, clips of an episode and some mentioning about his trips going around the world here and there, but never an actual story or even a series for that matter. In Detective Comics issue #0, we get to see him going to the himalayas to train under a legendary Zen Master to become a better crime fighter and must learn to detach himself from emotional feeling to become stronger mentally - which explains why Batman always has a cold personality. We see the effort Bruce puts into his training and the struggle with having human affection with a another woman shows that he's still willing to have human emotion. I like Tony S. Daniel's art work and Gregg Hurwitz's writing as it adds the dramatic feel to this story.
The only 2 things that got me upset is that 1) that this story is too short and should have been longer like a mini series, and annual, anything because there's so much more we like to know of Bruce's back story just before he became Batman, and 20 the ending was rushed, cliche and just unnecessary. The browsed through Alfred's story because even though it shined the character, it didn't help explained any further stories of Bruce and plus it was too short so why brother putting it there?
Great story but should've been longer. 3.5/5 stars.
