"This is What Closeness Will Bring You"

What looks to be Tony Daniels final issue of Detective Comics at least for the foreseeable future it is nice to see him where he is best at and that is doing art for the Capped Crusader with Gregg Hurwitz writing this origin story.

This issue we see Bruce travel all the way to the Himalayas to learn at the hands of Shihan Matsuda. Whilst there he starts having feelings for a girl from the market called Mio which Matsuda doesn't like saying that to carry love is too carry weakness. he also tells him that the death of his parent is the best possible thing that could have happened to him as it has freed him from the constructs of morality. Matsuda-Sama, Matsuda's wife tells Bruce that it is good to have emotion and that he doesn't want too be like Matsuda and that he should have someone special in his life. After this Bruce is upset about the argument he and Mioo had earlier and goes to say sorry.

At night when every one is sleeping an assassin comes and kills Matsuda. Bruce finds out too his shock that it's Mio who has killed Matsuda by orders from Matsuda-Sama who whilst trying too kill Bruce is killed by Matsuda who throws a knife at her. With his final breaths Matsuda tells Bruce that his final lesson is that "this is what closeness will bring you".

We also have a back story with Alfred who is looking after the mansion whilst Bruce is scouring the globe getting intimidated by a Mr. Shaw to sign the mansion away to Mr. Kane family of Bruce's dead mother Martha. After he gets rid of Shaw he is surprised to see a returning Bruce who starts too tell him all he's been up too and what he's got planned.

This was a really nice issue and I liked how they didn't go with the origin story we all already know but did a similar one that still shows loss in Bruce's life. I liked how Daniels was back on art which was amazing. This has also got to be one of the few DC issues that has a back story that I have liked both the main and back story.

Final verdict. This is a great origin story and I would highly recommend it too you. I know Detective Comics has ad it's ups and (mainly) downs over the last year but this is truly an amazing story. I will be curious to see how the new creative team of John Layman and Jason Fabok tackle this series.

      Bruce's training 0

Review:When people talk of Bruce Wayne's origin story they only focus on the murder of his parents and at some point in time he becomes Batman - The Dark Knight, but we never actually see his adventures in those years where he attain his training and knowledge. Sure we have panels, clips of an episode and some mentioning about his trips going around the world here and there, but never an actual story or even a series for that matter. In Detective Comics issue #0, we get to see him going to the h...

Crusader in TrainingBy: Andrew HinesI'm going to break my own rule and cover an actual Batman issue. I've made due the last few months by not getting involved with a title directly involving the Caped Crusader. With that being said, this issue gives us something we rarely see in one issue, a glimpse into Bruce Wayne's path to becoming Batman. We all know his origin story, but this is a look at something more special: his training. We've seen a few glimpses from the old DCU and more in-depth in B...
