    In Blackest Night 6, the New Guardians realized they only wielded a small fraction of the white light of creation to combat the Black Lantern Corps. As they awaited their respective corps to arrive on Earth, Ganthet activated a failsafe in the power rings - since all the rings are based on Oan technology. The failsafe duplicated the power rings of the New Guardians members and deputized the nearest bodies who best represented each emotion of each Corps. Deputy rings only last for 24 hours. When those with already existing superpowers wore the rings, they had not only their powers, but the powers of that Lantern Corps aswell.
