Considered the first appearance of Dennis the Menace in standard comic books.
Dennis Mitchell is a five-year-old with blonde hair, a bouncy personality, and a childish innocence. Why then does his neighbor Mr. Wilson fear his presence, and his parents, Henry and Alice, throw up their hands in exasperation whenever they contemplate his day’s activities? Because Dennis Mitchell is Dennis the Menace—a charmer of a kid with an uncanny talent for accidentally causing trouble. But for all this, he remains a lovable tyke, familiar to anyone who has ever had a five-year-old of their own. Hank Ketcham’s cartoon creation has been a popular favorite since it first appeared in the funny pages in 1951. It gave rise to numerous comic series, books, and even screen and stage plays.
