Here's an early review for you.  This Wednesday, July 15, 2009, Boom! Studios is putting out the first issue of a 24 issue maxi-series for Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.  You may have read the novel or perhaps you've seen the movie that was inspired by it, Blade Runner.  This isn't simply another movie/novel adapted comic.  It's the actual novel in graphic form.  What am I talking about?  Check out the video to find out.

What do you think?  Have you read the book (or seen Blade Runner)?  Do you like the way the novel is being handled here?  Do you think you'll want to be on this 24-issue ride?

I'm actually more excited that G-Man has a weird copy of the novel with BLADE RUNNER more focused then the actual novel title.

It's really a classic sci-fi dystopian world and really a staple. I might get a lot of crap for saying this though, but I think Blade Runner is one of those one-in-a-million times that the film surpassed the novel. Of course they say the flick's based on the novel, but really they should say very loosely based. That's not to say I think the book's weak by any means, but it's a little too out there for me sometimes. I'm very picky with Science Fiction. I might pick this up though. I'm very curious to check this out, perhaps I'll dig it more so in graphic form.

I'll pretty much read anything Phillip K Dick, even though most of the translations of his work fall flat

I'm liking the whole trend of turning sci-fi novels into comic books.  (Fahrenheit 451 is the other example I'm thinking of.)  I hope they try this with other sci-fi classics.

Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies, so I'm gonna check this out. Since you reviewed this novel adaptation, I would not mind seeing a review for The Stand sometime.

I think it's great some of the great Sci-Fi and Fantasy novels of late have been translated into comic form--(Dark Tower for example).  Blade Runner is so great, wonder how the comic book version  will translate.  .

This sounds awesome. Honestly, I miss in-depth narration in comics like some of Frank Miller's Daredevil work and such. Taking the narration from the book definitely is a big plus for me personally, and it's respectful to the source material seeing as how they're taking the very source material and putting it in sequential form. I think this is really awesome and I can't wait for it.

And to think Marvel adapted Blade Runner in two issues.  This is taking 24.

Great review, its good that you explained everything first to people who may not have read the book, or seen the film.
I myself am a huge Philip K. Dick fan and really looking forward to reading this!
