Father and Daughter
Just when I thought Marv would play ball with us and get all in clean plates, well, he did that without showing!!!! It´s unbelivable how can a writer the caliber of Marv Wolfman hold details that are so important to the plot, like the moment when Steel tells Deathstroke that Rose is his daughter?!?!? Why, Marv, why??? The whole flashback of Slade and Lili was great, just like he meeting with Rose, and both reacted in an expected fashion: her with anger and him with discontent (blocking her out of his life so she could be safe), but Marv not putting this revelation in the pages was an unforgivable mistake.
In the other hand the plot involving Crimelord, Steel and the terrorism still grows stronger, as Wolfman adds new elements into the story (like Vigilante) and competition for Crimelord´s plans (the Syndicate). Also Marv uses his "informant" character to build up some suspense and adding spice to the international crisis involving Crimelord´s bombs. The Crimelord is undoubtedly the more interesting character in this plot and the way he uses Steel, Vigilante, Adeline and Slade to achieve his goals (still not revealed) is Marv´s strongest feat in the series, he´s a classic villain (like a James Bond villain).
The art is magnificent in this issue, the symbioses between the Cariello brothers is significant and I really liked every single page. What I didn´t like very much was the participation of the New Titans, because they, as a group, at least this roster, aren´t fun. The dialogues between Donna Troy and Slade aren´t fun and this tainted this issue (this was meant to be a follow up to New Titans # 122, which I haven´t read...or will by the way)
Overall, despite the bad things, I´m rating this 4 out 5, mostly because of the art, the tension moments between the characters and Crimelord´s plot that continues to be good!
