    Full Circle

The four issue series written by Charles Soule has come to its epic conclusion with the death of Wolverine. We all heard the announcement at San Diego Comic-Con, but wondered how would the furry kill machine go out? Well first thing to note is that Wolverine lost his healing factor in his solo series a few months ago making it possible for Logan to die, but we can't forget that he is still the best at what he does, so who would get the honor of killing Wolverine? Fear not, we will get to the big moment, but first I want to touch on the story line and the cast of characters that attempt to help Logan along the way.

The above cover for issue three, was one of my favorites and shows Kitty Pryde phasing threw a samurai sword, which is important to Logan and Kitty as they both trained in Japan and share a special relationship. It is during this issue in Japan that Wolverine finally discovers that Cornelius, the Doctor responsible for the experiments on Logan, has been hunting him. Cornelius wants to bring Wolverine home to the weapon X program and use his healing factor to create, what he thinks, is the deadliest weapons he has ever created. Well the joke is on him right, because Logan lost his healing factor. This is a bit of a weak point in the story, because everyone and their mom knew Wolverine was killable, so how did this guy miss the memo? Putting that aside, we get to see Logan face to face with young men about to be experimented on just as he was. The Doctor pushes the menacingly red button, and the adamantium bonding begins on the unsuspecting victims. A process Wolverine knows full well they can't survive.

Wolverine pops his claws, and destroys the container of adamantium, covering himself and saving the victims. The doctor lays dying before Logan demanding to know what good he has done in his life, and has Logan drops to his knees dying from the adamantium incasing his body, he thinks about all the good he has done, the great loves of his life, and finds peace. The more I think about it, the more I feel this was the most fitting death for our hero. Logan confronted his past, killed his creator, and sacrificed himself to save others. These actions prove that Wolverine is not just an animal built to survive, but a true hero who made an impact on those around him. In that knowledge the character was able to find the peace that eluded him throughout his life. By bringing the story arc of Wolverine to completion, Soule has crafted a fitting end to a beloved character. For my non-comic readers out there, don't start crying on me yet; this is comics, and heroes always come back. For the next year or so, until Wolverines return, readers will get to see new heroes take the spot light, all while building our anticipation for the return of our furry killing machine. So this is not goodbye, but see you later bub!

Logan reaches his final destination and looks in horror how the new project X is going on before making his final stand against Dr. Cornelius and his henchmanThis wasn't the way I expected it to end but it sure was a fitting one and I liked how in just a few panels Logan is able to answer his enemy's question about whether he has done anything with his lifeThis must be one of the few occasions in which I would've loved that Marvel extended the story a few issues as having it conclude in just 4 m...
