    Mutant. They just activated his X gene, if memory serves.

    I doubt they can use Death. I think the MCU has plans for her.

    @jedixman: This may be right.

    Technically a mutant is born with the gene and gains mutations and a mutate gains it through some event, like Spider-Man.

    Typically it is the difference between X-Men and Inhumans. But Inhumans are also born with a gene that mutates after birth... so it gets confusing.

    Maybe an independent catalyst is the difference?

    For me, the difference - in comics - comes down to the X-gene, fitting the Marvel category of mutant.

    The movie version was a mutant with dormant powers I believe. The comic version is a mutate as we all know.

    They will probably want to use her in Infinity War along with Thanos.

    @avatar_of_green:

    Actually IIRC Spiderman isn't a mutant (at least not the Xmen kind)

    Hasn't it been said in a few Deadpool/X-Men crossovers that he isn't a mutant? That's like a running joke. Deadpool says something like "us mutants" and then someone else says "You're not a mutant Wade."
