Deadpool Stays On The Run
Everyone's favorite merc with a mouth is still doing his best to stay out of harms way after a routine job became a double cross. This issue picks up with The Punisher, Frank Castle (another victim of Hollywood's abuse of cool Marvel characters) posing as a detective to get clues that will lead him to Deadpool's whereabouts. Thanks to a tip from disgusted waitress at a "popular family restaurant", he gets to Deadpools apartment and that's where the action really picks up. This is a ridiculously entertaining story with great dialogue and intense action. A great reminder of what Deadpool can be in the hands of writer who understands him. Mike Benson certainly captured the dark humor of Deadpool and found myself laughing out loud a couple of times. Carlos Barberi's penciling works on the level of this being an over top kind of action peice rather than a suspenseful mystery like might see with other characters. If I had any complaints it would simply be that this is a very "slam bang" book and and really doesn't offer anything you wouldn't expect. Fans of Deadpool and action packed comics will love it, but its not a must read by any means. The cool factor makes it worth a pick up and I do look forward to the next issue. Its a great distraction from his movie counterpart.
