Great Marvel Comic? (NO SPOILERS)
I've tried to read books like Punisher vs. Marvel Universe and all of those kind of alternate reality Marvel books, but none have really caught my attention. For some reason I was interested in this book. It was by no means that Deadpool was starring in it though. In fact, in recent years, I've come not to like Deadpool; I don't feel like his character has been done justice. Yes, even in Uncanny X-force.
This issue made me forget about all that. Even though the art wasn't top notch, it fit the tone and the story more than made up for the art. I felt like I was reading a good Deadpool comic for the first time ever and I've read my fair share of early Deadpool comics.
Throughout the issue, I was at the edge of my seat. The first first few pages just pulled me in. It was awesome to see heroes at their most desperate using their deadliest techniques to try to stop this guy. I know we only really saw one in this, but there are bound to be more.
What really surprised me was the character development. I thought this book was just going to be "Deadpool as a villain," but it is deeper than that. It is Deadpool "released".
I couldn't put the book down from the very first page to the very last and the very last was probably the most satisfying last page of a book I have read in recent years.
I hope is that this gets released in trade, because I would buy the hell out of this trade.
