    In 1982, Paul Levitz (Adventure Comics) and Keith Giffen (Justice League) took over as writer and artist of Legion of Super-Heroes, embarking on a run that would soon be hailed as the high-water mark of the series. This first of two DC Heroes & Villains Collection volumes showcasing Levitz and Giffens's legendary tenure on the title presents the earliest of those tales, a spectacular sequence of 30th-centure science fiction stories leading up to the epic Great Darkness Saga!
