Great. I was so tired of Ben Affleck being indecisive every other minute and keeping fans waiting for an actual answer.

It's a shame to see Affleck go, as he was my favorite live action Batman since Keaton (Bale is fine, I just don't have that strong of an opinion about his Batman). But I'm never going to demand that an actor stay in a role that they don't want to be in anymore so I still wish him the best in his future endeavors.

I think people really overblow how confusing or messy it'll be. Not that I want to see Affleck or Cavil go but we've had actor replacements before, not just in superhero movies but other film series as well (the Bond series is the first that comes to mind). Heck, the Keaton, Kilmer, and Clooney Batman were all supposed to be the same Batman and they don't look a thing alike, but people still accepted it. As long as the world and most of the supporting cast around the character is still the same, people I think will be easily able to adjust to the fact that it's still supposed to be the same version of the character.

...Or maybe they'll just whine about it. Fans have a tendency to do that a lot too. I think the MCU has spoiled us all a bit and that people have trouble remembering that there was a time before when actors didn't typically sign on for 6+ movies as the same character. I'm still worried what happened to Adam West will happen to Chris Evens and Robert Downey Jr.

Jake would make a great Batman IMO but he's Mysterio.

    I wonder who they'll pick?

On one side I’m glad to get some concrete news, but on the other I am a bit disappointed we are going back to a “younger” Batman. I feel like some interesting things could’ve been done with a Batman that’s a bit older and a vet in crime fighting.

@mazahs117: Me neither, I don't want to see another origin story as many are already familiar with The Dark Knight's beginnings. I want to see Batman at his prime and in his early 30's when he's already battled most of his numerous villains. My choice for playing Bruce is Armie Hammer, he definitely has the look.

Ben Affleck is great and I think he could do a good Batman but I will admit that I like the idea of a younger different version.

I also like the idea of a more detective type super intelligent Batman.

Hmm, correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no actual indication that Ben Affleck has quit Batman, right?

This just states that he won't be portraying Batman in upcoming solo Batman movie, which most likely features a young Batman way before the events of BvS anyway.

This is wonderful news for DCEU. Yes, having to recast Batman is a blow to the continuity of the DCEU, but sometimes that's just the way it is. Sometimes you have to cut your losses.

Don't see how this is him not playing batman anymore. It only states he won't be playing the younger version of himself (which I think is a good thing). It could still mean he would be playing the older version. But, on the off chance the new actor does an excellent job, I hope they'll keep him. Just let someone else direct the action sequences (and not Matt Reaves).

Are people retarded? Where does it say in this that Ben is quitting Batman? We already knew Matt Reeves wanted to make a young Batman film, so Ben wasn't going to play Batman in that film. There still isn't any conformation that Ben won't play future Batman.

Also how are there still people that believe Henry Cavill left Superman? Besides rumors that were never confirmed, Henry is still Superman.

@trapezoid: That’s true, but good and even great acting doesn’t nessicarly translate into Box Office Success. Look at Ryan Gosling; arguably the greatest actor of his generation and outside of Lala Land and the notebook he continually flops at the box office.

Amazing how so many people get this wrong.
