In terms of events

• In 2011 Flashpoint happenned, and New 52 was born.
• In 2013-14 Forever Evil happenned. All Villains of the DC Univers try to Unite. It is followed by Vilain Month.
• In 2015 Convergence Event (skippable), and the end of the New 52 branding. Entering the era of DCYou (25 continuing series, 24 new series).
• In 2016 Rebirth happenned. Bringing back forgottent events and heros from pre-Flashpoint onto the New52 Earth.
• In 2016, for Rebirth, all titles Reboot to #1, exept Action Comics and Detective Comics which pick-up with their pre-Flashpoint Numbering.

Since Rebirth, Titans and Teen Titans are here, Wally West is back and a New Superman appears (he is chinese).

To Catch you basically need to read

• DC Universe Rebirth
• "Your Hero" Rebirth #1 - 1 special rebirth issue for each DC hero
• Rebirth: "Your Hero" - New ongoing serie

Here's some big things recently:

• New52 Superman is dead and pre-52 Superman is back. He's married to Lois and they have a ~10 year old son (read Convergence for an explanation of that)
• The Birds of Prey are back together (Babs, Dinah, Helena)
• Nightwing is in Bludhaven
• Green Arrow is back with Black Canary
• The Titans are back
• Damian is the leader of the Teen Titans and also teaming up with Superman's kid
• Wonder Woman apparently never loved Superman and is back again with Steve

A lot of other stuff has happened, but that's off the top of my head with books I am reading.
