The Truth about DC's Cosmology and Cosmic Hierarchy
DC's Cosmology has one of the most, messy most incoherent mess of canonicity in regards to Cosmology and especially in regards to continuity.
In this thread, I will delve down the problems of DC's Cosmology that comes in different problems.
1. Different Authors acting medium to high independently of each other, adding new concepts to older primal concepts and default aspects of DC's Cosmology all the way to Kirby, while ignoring to semi-acknowledging other writers of the same era and generation.
2. DC being a Superhero Comic Book publisher, does not emphasize any focus on Multiversal God Tiers. Leading to mass unfocus and lack of care for consistency.
3. Umm.... pretty much that's it. This, and DC being extremely vague on how to deal with its Canon.
I will be posting an at least, overview of DC's Cosmology. The different contradicting Cosmology histories and the lack of proper acknowledgment of other works.
As well as organizing the different Sub-Canon Cosmologies of DC's Patch Work Canonicity Cosmology. Rating the Cosmology and characters as well for each respective interpretation.

J.M. De Matteis's Cosmology
JM De Matteis is a Writer for DC (and mostly DC, in fact, Morrison is more involved with Vertigo than Matteis ever was. Don't believe Michael's bullshit) who is a follower of a certain sect of Hinduism known as Meher Baha.

that which he implemented into his own Sub-Canon Cosmology (that is never referenced out of his works).
DC's Multiverse was at its height during Matteis's run. With the most powerful interpretation of the Presence, as well as the largest size of DC's Cosmology, rivaling Vertigo's the Unwritten. Albeit, with a bonafied, Ain-Soph being.
The Size of Matteis's Multiverse
Matteis perceives the DC Cosmology as an Infinitely Layered, Higher Dimensional Cosmology that which are all Conceptual and Metaphysical beyond the Physical Reality.
Regular Universes and Timelines were forming into new Universes like Quantum Mechanics every moment. So a Quantum Type IV Cosmology was being used, in addition, the Presence is the one behind the Multiverse's nature.
The Cosmic Hierarchy of Matteis's Interpretation
Matteis's Cosmology, had the most, Non-Dualistic, Indefinable, presentation of the Presence in any portrayal of the character. Almost like an outlier.
The Presence wielded different aspects of itself, such as Pralaya, the Void before Creation. And the Spectre was portrayed as a completely Reality/Space-Time transcendent abstract whom was one with the Void beyond Voids.
The Void beyond Voids in Matteis's Cosmology is the Presence or a lower aspect of him.
Hence, I used to differentiate the JMD Void/Presence, from the regular DCU and Vertigo Presence, who are characters with completely different natures.
Rating DC Power under Matteis Philosophy
I would rate the DC Multiverse
Sandman Cosmology
Although the Presence appears in both continuities, they are absurdly different characters. With different power levels.
Origin of Creation and Sandman Cosmology Explained
Creation in Sandman started out, with the coming of Mother Night and Father Time. And with them, Creations of all variations and versions arose.
Arose from this, the Endless.
Gods like Mythological Gods of different human mythologies are entities created from the myth of belief and dreams of Humanity. Including even the Presence himself, a complete contrast to the Matteis interpretation.
It was also confirmed in M. Carey's run that the Presence, although more powerful, was a retroactive creation from the beliefs of Humanity indeed. That there are also Gods and Makers even more worthy than the Presence.
It's confusing I know. Why is Dream of the Endless weaker than Presence and Lucifer? Quite simple. Because the Endless are Primal Fundamental Aspects of Reality that define Reality, their entity is not focused on raw power. So although Dream is weaker than those two, Dream was within versions of Creation that perceived Gods not like the Presence as the True God.
All in all, Sandman Cosmology was paradoxical and complicated. And although the Abrahamic Pantheon was the Supreme in Carey's Lucifer, they are by no means as primal nor fundamental.
Regardless, the interpretations of the Presence in the Sandman Cosmology are almost mostly ignored, just like how Matteis's Cosmology is mostly ignored and should be interpreted as their own self-contained continuities.
The Size of Sandman Cosmology
Vertigo Writers use the word "Universe" to refer to all that exists. In contrast to DC writers who refer to "Multiverse" instead, nonetheless, in context, both are synonymous with Creation/All-That-Is, hence the definition that Vertigo writers use must be interpreted differently from that in DC.
Regardless, Creation in DC according to some Sandman stories refers to Infinite Timelines of Possibility existing. As well in the Dreaming.
And everyone in Sandman should at least be, Tier-C in Cosmology.
Morrison/Snyder Continuum
The Morrison Version of DC's Multiverse completely disregards the previous interpretation of Cosmology altogether. Even stories of Hal Spectre literally do not recognize the Matteis run as even canon.
Anyway. It should be noted that during this period, till now, DC's Multiverse is an extreme development hell of contradiction unseen before ever.
