@twix_right_side: no-one can deny that Marvel has copied DC more than the other way around.

Haha the original poster is really stupid. He's not even taking the time to check and see which characters actually came first before calling them rip offs.

You know that most of DC's popular characters "ripped off" Greek myths, right?

Again,if that is what makes you sleep at night, then who am I to judge?

It kinda works the same way that no one can deny that Flash will stomp Odin....

I have problems with both. DC is too dark, Marvel is too complicated.

I do believe that marvel ripped off more than dc did...but they've both grown apart in their own ways. they both have their pluses and minuses. Though I tend to lean a bit more DC. Both have some great writers and artists ( who are kind of interchangeable). Guy's like Alan Moore and Grant Morrison and Neil Gaimen did their best work at DC, that's how it edges Marvel in my opinion.

...another incendiary thread, the irony being that Marvel is beating DC at the moment on Sales and market share and of course all those mega successful films...DC certainly pre-dates Marvel and undoubtedly Marvel has copied some DC characters, but characters like Spiderman, Silver Surfer, Hulk and Iron Man are all pretty original. In the 1960s, Stan Lee also deliberately made his characters flawed and relatable, whereas at the time in the Silver Age, DCs were god like and almost flawless.... Anyone who says Iron Man is a copy of Batman is well wide of the mark. If anything, Batman with his increasingly tech based suits in recent years has been copying Iron Man...

Great comment...Not that i dislike DC, i just find Marvel much more relatable so i like them more. Rip offs or not.

Sure, DC has ripped off Marvel in the past, but for every one character DC has ripped off, Marvel had ripped off three. Here is a list of characters and teams that Marvel has taken from DC and given a new name:

Deathstroke (1980) - Deadpool (1991)

Catwoman (1940) - Black Cat (1979)

Darkseid (1970) - Thanos (1973)

Superman (1933) - Hyperion (1969), Gladiator (1977) and Sentry (2000)

Justice League (1960) - Squadron Supreme (1971)

Black Canary (1947) - Black Widow (1964)

Swamp Thing (July 1971) - Man Thing (May 1971)

Doom Patrol (June 1963) - X Men (September 1963)

Green Arrow (1941) - Hawkeye (1964)

The Atom (1961) - Ant Man (1962)

Deadshot (1950) - Bullseye (1976)

Green Lantern Corps (1959) - Nova Corps (1979)

Elongated Man (1960) - Mr. Fantastic (1961)

Red Tornado (1963) - Vision (1968)

Dr. Poris (June 1963) - September (1963)

Dr. Fate (1940) - Dr. Strange (1963)

This is only the tip of the iceberg. Marvel was built on a knock-off shop.
