Many of Marvel's characters are just cheap rip-offs of DC's. So are many of their teams and events. Also I find their books to be rather boring and try-too-hard.

DC however is very original. Without DC, Marvel wouldn't exist. DC's books are interesting, well-written, and amazing. They don't have to try hard for great comic books. They just have to try a little.

DC wasn't the very first comic book publisher. Both DC and Marvel copy each other from time to time. Namor flew before Superman for example. The Shadow existed before Batman.

Yes,because Batman was kidnapped by Terrorists,and had to build a suit of armor to survive while being an alcoholic. That is about the same time he exposed his identity to the world,too.

Nova's powers.....are barely like Hal's. Both are cosmic,yes. The Nova Corps was based off of the GL corps (I think),but that doesn't mean that he's an unoriginal "rip-off".

Deadpool was intentionally created as a pastiche to Deathstroke. However,as time (and his popularity) grew,his similarities to Deathstoke lessened.

@patriotperson: also how is ironman like batman? They only thing the have in common is that there both rich. Even if secret invasion is a ripoff it was obviously better then the DC event since you can't remember the DC event name. Deadpool is a spoof of death stroke not a ripoff.

Dude just stop. I'm a DC fan, and I hate it when people make threads that bash on DC or say that marvel is superior to DC. So, I'm pretty sure people don't like it when they get threads like these that have people bashing on marvel, or saying that they're inferior to DC. Both fan bases have to start hating on one another.

Yet the X-men have grown into so much more than DP "rip-offs",although they have taken a lot of inspiration from them.

The only similarity with Hawkeye/Green Arrow is that they are both white archers. And why isn't Green Arrow seen as a "rip off" to Robin Hood,or friggin Batman? He did have an Arrow car,and an Arrowcave at the time of his inception.

The only similarity that Namor and Aquaman have is that they both have general strength,speed,amphibious,etc and they are kings of Atlantis. Other than that......

In what way is Mockingbird like Black Canary? Does she have some metahuman power that I'm unaware of? They're both fighters (so are most street levelers). Both are women (Do I even have to name the number of comic women). Both are white.....

lol of course it matters if, you're going to go around and cry fowl of other "rip-offs" you most certainly have to look at the company's own characters that they "ripped-off" each other. Green Arrow started out as a cookie cutter Batman and they've even came out and said that they were essentially trying to make another Batman.

Aside from that if you're going to breakdown an entire character to sheer basics a lot of characters are "rip-offs" of one another.

Personally I don't agree and can't stand the word "rip-off" because it's thrown around willy nilly and it takes a lot more to be a "rip-off" then the most simplistic of reasoning behind it. I'm sure a lot of characters were inspired by those basic ideas/concepts but they all evolve into their own characters and are wildly different.

Honestly, I understand having a preference but to say one company is inferior to the other is pure opinion. I love both companies, sure I may prefer Marvel (I'm an X-Men guy) but Superman is my favorite hero. It's ok to like both people, there does not have to be any hate or troll threads like this being made.

Kyle Rayner is a rip off of Spider Man because:

• Both are white and middle class
• Both have had many Girlfriends who have suffered
• Both are super heroes that are associated with their premier super hero teams
• Both have powers

Thus Kyle Rayner is a rip off of Spider man.

Static Shock is a rip off of Blue Beetle because both are young,wise-cracking minority superheroes who have powers and fight for the greater good.
