Originally known as "National Publications", DC is a publisher of comic books featuring iconic characters and teams such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Justice League of America, and the Teen Titans, and is considered the originator of the American superhero genre. DC, along with rival Marvel Comics, is one of the "big two" American comic book publishers. DC Entertainment is a subsidiary of Warner Brothers and its parent company Warner Media.
It is about equal for me, the New 52 took away quite a lot of stuff that I liked and replaced it with something I didn't, but it also got me into quite a few bits that I didn't like (or rather care about) before.
Most of the best character histories were kept intact i.e. Batman and Green Lantern. At the same time we're getting more modern re-imaginings of characters i.e. Shazam.
Some people moan about the quality of some titles as though the predecessors were amazing.
Well as someone who returned to comics recently, I tend to enjoy the new 52 issues that I flick through more than the current Marvel ones (Indestructible Hulk and Scarlet Spider excepted!)
I picked equal even though you'll often find me arguing in support of the New 52. The truth is that there are a lot of problems now that I don't think were there preboot. There's a lot of continuity problems, next to no characterization consistency across titles, more Superman and Batman and Justice League "family" titles, and just overall inconsistency in quality. Some characters suffered but some definitely benefited.
As most are saying, the Dark line really is a huge positive. Books like Justice League Dark, Constantine, Animal Man, Demon Knights were among my favorites of the entire line. Wonder Woman became possibly my favorite of all the New 52 books when I never really found her character appealing beforehand. So lots of positives, lots of negatives. Probably about equal. Business-wise, probably still doing better than before the reboot but I don't imagine it's by all that much now. Overall, I'm glad it happened though.
