First, let me explain what force drain is ;
It is a technique that is almost as old as the Sith themselves…it is a means of severing connections between life, the Force, and feeding upon the death it causes. It cannot be taught…it can only be gained through instinct, through experiencing its effects, first-hand.
- Krei
It cannot be taught by its nature, and kills the other life forms and gives a great power to the user.
Exar Kun used force drain for survival as well ;
Exar Kun : My spirit will live forever !

After his very mortal injury, Maul tried to cling on to life ;
Tatsu : You cut him in half master Kenobi, not to mention he fell down a reactor shaft.
Obi-Wan : Yes, Tatsu. Only one consumed by the dark side of the force would cling to life so tenaciously.

Obi-Wan : The Sith crave life above else, padawan... They wish to control it, dominate it, and thus cling to it with every fiber being. I believe Maul's rage was so powerful, and his knowledge of the dark side so great, he simply refuse to die...
Anakin : Somehow Darth Maul found a way to use the force to sustain himself.
And this is the part made me think that Maul used Force Drain to survive...
I have never seen such a thing before, Maul is using the force to pull scraps of Lotho Minor, including the living things such as bugs. I don't know if this is not a Force Drain, what it is...
And then, Maul turns into a spider-monster and managed to survive with it.

Lately, Maul demonstrated his knowledge about Force Drain as well...
Maul : You feel that Count ? Mother draws your very life force from your withered bones... Draining you will give her all she needs to fully take form.

After that, we have seen that Maul can transform his force power to Talzin ;
I don't think that Maul is given a moral support to Talzin by touching her either....
