Darth Maul in the Clone Wars... should I be upset for the sake of the character and continuity or excited for Maul returning in a series and getting more attention?

He should stay dead. The final battle and his death in Episode 1 was epic and the best part of the film. Bringing him back just ruins it.

USA Today has debuted the new trailer for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The show is gearing up for the final four episodes with a long story arc that will include one of the only bright spots in Episode I, Darth Maul. Maul will have survived his encounter from the first installment of the franchise but will need help getting around with a robotic lower half. And for all of you fans of the double sided lightsaber you will be disappointed to find out he will only use the half that survived the battle with Obi-Wan.

Sam Witmer is the man dude! He was awesome as the Son and Galen Marek! He gonna rock as Darth Maul no doubt! I don't care with the canon because I think most things in Clone Wars don't ever happen in the movies!

Y'know years before Episode 1 in the video game Dark Forces II, a character named 'Moc' suffered an injury similar to Maul and managed to survive while bonded to a special hover-pad.  He was one of those weirder bosses.

@Deranged Midget: They should never have killed him in the first place, he was a far superior character to Count Dooku, then again its only one of several hundred billion problems with the prequel trilogy.

@Deranged Midget: He could have been an amazing villain over the prequel movies, introduced in ep 1, he's expanded upon in ep 2, and is killed in ep 3 by Anakin, getting revenge for Qui Gon Ginn, anyway I have spent many an hour pondering how I could have made the prequel movies far far superior (and Im pretty sure I have it down).. but whats done is done... until my time machine is complete anyway.

@Deranged Midget: Well Darth Sidious was always going to be the main villain, Darth Maul was going to serve as both the villain with which the jedi have their main confrontations in 1 and 2, and a character through which we explore the history of sith, through which we would have gotten some great characterization and the viewers would have been left saying.. you know what it's not impossible to see things their way (kinda like how Magneto for all his evil ways is a some what understandable villain. This would have led to anakin learning of the power to save Padme (he has his visions of her death in episode 2). As he was tasked with investigating the reappearance of Maul in episode 2 (After graduating to full jedi knight), which would have carried over into episode 3,(the clones and the stuff with obi wan would still stand mostly). In episode 3 his obsession with becoming powerful enough to save her life, and making them both powerful enough to rule the galaxy cos she was all political and junk. There would have been a sub plot with anakin taking on a padawan and he panics and kills him/her after the padawan discovered his secrets, leading Anakin to a showdown with Maul at the end of his hunt for him, from Maul he learns who the true sith lord is, and then kills Maul, this leads him to sidious who he trys to fool him into thinking he's turned to the dark side, but really he has, jedi discover it blah blah blah, showdown on lava planet, where obi wan has a better reason for defeating anakin ("I have the higher ground", ARE YOU FRAKKING KIDDING ME LUCAS?!!?! ITS A SMALL HILL!!! I'VE SEEN JEDI LEAP 50 FEET INTO THE AIR!!!!! HELL I COULD JUMP THAT HILL!!!) Anyway like I said earlier my friends and I have discussed this in depth and I don't want to get into it (even though I already have...), plus its 4am here and I have class at 9... stupid college..

I really need to get working on that time machine again :/

As much as I despise the prequel trilogy (espeically the phantom menace) and never really cared for the clone wars animated series, I found this video really interesting and always find voice actors so appealing to what they have to say to express their performance.

Sam has played 4 different major characters in Star Wars. Starkiller, Emperor Palpatine, The Son and now Darth Maul. My hat is off to him for his overall work and making sure each character stands out. Aside from that, I have to admit that even I am looking forward to the last arc of Clone Wars Season 4. This is looks be like the Season Finale I have been waiting for.

Maul... didn't really have a character, He was extremely underdeveloped. At least Dooku had more than two lines in the prequels. Sometimes I feel the only reason Maul was even thrown in was so that Phantom Menace could have a villain. This is one of the reasons I'm really glad they're bringing him back, because now we'll get to see if he has a personality.

    I disagree.

I agree to somewhat a level. Darth maul should only have two robotic legs. Make him really powerful in the force and great at dueling. But don't make him literally like a robot monster. Also, I hope that they keep him a live for a long time. So he can have comics and books :D

I'm really excited to see this but I missed all of last season. The series has grown progressively darker and I'm glad with the direction it's taken.
