    Copying bits and pieces?

Ok, so this is a sci-fi outer space story. A ship floating through space, crew disoriented and oblivious to their mission, etc. Nice start I should say, especially when you want to deviate from the typical Star Wars style of story-telling.

But is it really original? Because I've watched movies, I know what I'm talking about here.

The scene opens up with a spaceship floating through space, life support failing, crew awakening from stasis pods with no memory, yet their learned skills remain active. All reminiscent of Pandorum. Feels like an imperfect copy; with the crew hostile towards each other, yet they join to form a team, certain members doing suspicious acts, etc. Even the lead female character's hairstyle and dress are very similar to the styling given to Antje Traue in that movie.

Next we come to the android, who is accidentally activated, and tries to kill the crew, but fails. Remember Alien? The android Ash, who made a similar unsuccessful attempt to kill Ellen Ripley and the others? Not much originality here.

Next, I come to the spaceship's design. Ok, these days there are a hell lot of spaceships lying around, probably the bulk of them being used by Star Wars and Eve Online. But a few months ago, I found a website where you could build ships online, and the design carries much similarities with the results any surfer would get, fiddling with that website's tools.

Well, however, I liked the way they have started this volume, hope it lives up to the mark set by the first issue.
