Originally an idea concocted by Norman Osborn, the "Dark Avengers" were Osborn's own personal counterpart to the Avengers. The team has since become independent from Osborn's visions and mad quest for power.

See that's why I assumed he was jealous. The fact that she wouldn't give him the time of day but is now apparently interested in Marvel Boy has to mess with his ego. He is a God after all.

I think he is smirking because he can tell Moonstone is trying to weave her web of deceit and manipulation. Ares seems to be enjoying the show more than anything else.
Just got the issue yesterday and I laughed when Ares stared down Noh-varr, I mean if you were the god of war would you let some young punk oggle what you have claimed :)
Although I must say the comic as a whole wasn't that good, I felt how they got rid of LeFay was kinda weak. I won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't read it yet, but I don't get how she can't use her magic. Oh well that's just me, over all I'd have to give it a 2.5 out of 5.
Wow, I'm surprised there's debate on the Ms. Marvel / Captain Marvel / Ares triangle. Ares is giving Noh-Var a face, cos yeah, he's a little jealous (though he'd never admit it) and when Noh-Var catches Ares' glance, he panics and faces front, making Ares smirk that he can scare the youth without so much as word ("Which is as it should be," I imagine Ares was thinking to himself).
Is Karla genuinely flirting with Noh-Var? Very doubtful -- she's the type of woman who'll expect something major in return.
