Classic! That part alone is funny enough to get my vote. Yup, that's right. I gave this four and a half stars. Maybe it should get more? I don't know. But this is really good and there are a lot of good lines like that crowded in here. I love the team, mainly because I don't really read team books that often. I don't really read Bendis that much either. Overall, I just usually avoid mainstream "Avengers" titles. Yeah, I read Dark Avengers #1 and loved it (I liked it better than Batman and Robin #1) so I read #2 and loved it also. Incase you missed what I wrote in the parentheses, I actually like the first two issues of Dark Avengers more than I liked the first issue of Batman and Robin. Call me crazy, but this book just rocks. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy the first issue of Morrison's new series, but for some reason I'm loving this Dark Marvel stuff waaaay more.
The battle with Doom and Morgana was a little drawn out and it interrupted the flow of the story. I thought that maybe the battle could have been shorter or placed differently or something. It also interrupted that awsome dialog (see top of my review for more details). I also think that the battle was kind of stupid. "Ooh! Now the Dark Avengers are fighting some monsters! Whooh!" I mean, it was sorta dumb and I honestly didn't care much.
But those were the bad things and there are more good things in this issue than bad. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the $%@! happened to Sentry and why he just exploded and went somewhere. I also want to see how the team gets along without really knowing each other. In a way, I actually care more about the whole team getting to know each other than the battle. Infact, to be honest, I don't really give much of a $#!& about the battle. I just want to see the Dark Avengers get pissy with each other.
The art here is really good. It was good in issue #1 too. I really enjoy it. The art reminds me of the stuff from Brubaker's Captain America. It's really dark and it totally fits for the tone of the book and it looks great too!
All in all, this is quality stuff and I do not regret my purchase at all.
