"Marvel's Daredevil" is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night.
The show was created for Netflix by Drew Goddard based on the Marvel comics character created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett. Goddard was also hired to be the executive producer and showrunner for the show but he soon withdrew the role to focus on the writing and direction of a new Sinister Six movie, though the project was later cancelled. Goddard remain as executive producer and consultant of the show with Steven S. DeKnight taking showrunner duties for the first season and later replaced by Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez in the second season.
"Marvel's Daredevil" stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Franklin "Foggy" Nelson and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin the main antagonist on the first season.
The show became a breakout hit, prompting Netflix to order a second season. Marvel announced that The Punisher will be appearing as a villain in season two. The Punisher will be played by Jon Bernthal (Shane on The Walking Dead).
"Marvel's Daredevil" was the first of the Netflix series leading into the miniseries, Marvel's The Defenders.
