Drowning Pool's theme song to this was totally rad, too.

Sharper Comic Vine maniacs will recall the news from a while back that Fox would be rebooting DAREDEVIL as a film series. Said maniacs might’ve even been wondering what was going on with it. Their lingering questions have at last been answered with this news from Deadline that British director David Slade will be helming this new on-screen adventure of the man without fear. Though his latest flick was the last TWILIGHT, Slade’s actually got something of a long association with comics movies. He directed 30 DAYS OF NIGHT and was one of the directors in the running to direct THE WOLVERINE; also, his debut film HARD CANDY is supposedly the movie that got Ellen Page cast as Kitty Pryde.

Me, myself… I liked DAREDEVIL. I think it’s unfairly maligned. I actually would’ve included it in my list of favorite Marvel flicks from a while back but I ran out of room and, frankly, I wasn’t in the mood to get into the kind of heated debate I knew would be ignited by even mentioning the flick. I know a lot of you maniacs have an ax to grind with it and I’m sure many of you talked out your fantasies about what you would’ve done differently to bring hornhead to the screen. == TEASER ==

Well, here's what you've been waiting for. I strongly doubt that anybody aside from Michael Clarke Duncan and Joe Pantoliano would come back for this, so the set’s really open and clear for you all to call some shots from your fantasy producer’s chair. What would you want to see in this one, kiddies? Something focused almost entirely on DD’s history with the Hand? A romp with his more traditional foes like the Owl, Stilt-Man and the Purple Man? Maybe something drawing from more recent storylines like DD going crazy in SHADOWLAND?

Why not get FRANK MILLER on the reboot. It would be a reunion for him on his great run on the comic as it turned DD into what he is TODAY...

The fact that he directed a twilight is enough for me to be very unhappy with this choice. As for the storyline, I think it focusing on the hand would be a good idea. Also, I think it should shy away completely from the original, and not keep any of the cast (I hate the first one, btw).

This guy did a twilight? Oh crap...just when I had hope. I didn't mind the first one, just didn't like Been Afleck. Just give me a straight man's movie and cut out the obligatory romance with Elektra or Typhoid Mary. Kingpin as main villain but non climactic battle with him, just show him rising to power throughout the film and manipulating the street level foes DD encounters. I'd love to see Bullseye on the big screen again. Oh yeah, mellow DD out a bit, they tried to hard to make him brooding and dark in the original.

Know what this movie needs? More Affleck.

All jokes aside, though, please do a Miller story with Matt Damon as Murdock.

From what I know this is not a reboot in the strictest sense of the term. This is supposed to be a continuation from the first movie. I imagine it will playout like the Incredible Hulk did. Rumor is "Born Again" is going to be a heavy influence on this movie.

I liked Daredevil and I liked Benn Affleck as him but a reboot has the potential to be amazing. I liked Frank Miler's version of Daredevil so I'd like to see an adaptation of Man Without Fear but with somebody else directing because Miller's visual style for his movies is would not suit Daredevil at all, especially the stylized action which Miller seems to like and his CGI Film noir style is just plain ugly compared to real film noirs.

The only problem I have with this movie is David Slade, if he didn't do Twilight then I would have no problem with him but he did and ruined his reputation forever. Also the other problem I have with this movie is Fox, all the other marvel superhero films they did have sucked with the exception of X2.

I loved the original Daredevil movie, the director's cut should have been what was released originally, the second cut storyline really fleshed it out.

The original is my second favorite marvel movie. The 1st being Spider-man. As far as sticking to the comic book I think this was the closest adaptation. I had no problem with King-pin being black nor Ben Affleck. That was most peoples biggest gripe. I chalk that up to basic racism and celebrity hatred. A lot of people didn't even give the movie a chance. I own the original and director's cut of the film. 5 stars. If Ben comes back for the role I would not have a problem at all.

Daredevil in the comics didn't need to bang a trash can to see an entire alley. His vision was also better than the film's: he could read a book by the indentations of the ink on paper.
The Affleck movie made him seem too handicapped. Unfortunately, my girlfriend watched that movie on a loop.

Amen.  And since I have not and will not see the Twilight movies I won't hold that against him.  Everybody has to get paid somehow.  Judgment on my full hope or dread will wait until some of the cast has been announced. The problem with the first was they tried to incorporate too many characters without enough time to build them all up.

Oh dear god why!.. is this the new fad? make a film.. make a pile of money.. then give it a few years.. and remake it.  It prolly works out better than failed sequels i guess. Its bad enough having a spider-man reboot and a superman one coming.

I personally liked the original film, but then I'll watch anything with Jennifer Garner(Elektra and Catch and Release, coughcough).  That's not to say it couldn't have been better, but i enjoyed the directors cut that they rereleased very much if that one had been put in the theaters maybe it would have done better. That and Bullseye really was terrible.

I only had two problems with the DD movie.
1} He let the guy die on the tracks when he clearly could have saved him.  -side note, I don't think DD would ever light up his name like that, but this is a movie and I can let that slide.-
2 } They brought the Bullseye forehead target into the comic in the worst way as far as I'm concerned.-

I can only hope the next one is half as good.

Some characters just don't need movies. Daredevil may have had his own comic, but he just isn't that interesting. I can pretty much sum it up that Daredevil, Incredible Hulk and Ghostrider were all basically the same movie. It's just a matter of recycling the plot.
    1. Origin, usually involving a girl.
    2. Brush with bad guy, whose identity is unknown.
    3. Another brush with bad guy. Drama ensues, something with a girl.
    4. Good guy defeats bad guy, kisses girl and jumps off a building/rides off in the distance.

I liked Daredevil. Granted if I had control of the film I would have left out Elektra. I would have also given Bullseye his costume, but not right away. Like after the first fight between him and DD. Bullseye likes DD's costume and being the nutjob he is decides to make one for himself. Nothing fancy just an all black outfit with a military kind of look to it, with the same style of mask he usually wears. I hope they make a great film on par with Spidey 1 or Iron Man.

No Elektra. That's all I want in the movie. Karen Page could work, or Milla Donovan, just not Elektra. It would probably mess it up.
