Gladiator Vs. Daredevil In The Arena
Summary :
Daredevil and the Tri Man are sucked up by Marauders "Levitation" ray. In all honesty it seems to be more of a teleporter.
It takes Daredevil into a glass cage where the Marauder would take his skill and put it into the robot. However, Daredevil has other plans, and easily breaks out of his glass prison.
He then has to face the three criminals who were originally kidnapped to power the robot. He easily defeats them. Afterwards he faces the Gladiator. As the two of them fight, the Marauder contacts the Maggia and offers to send them the Gladiator and Daredevil. The crime syndicate agrees that if he can do it, they would let him lead them.
By the request of the Maggia, the Marauder sends them to an old movie set. A movie set that happens to be a coliseum like arena. There the two do battle until lions are released. When one attacks the Gladiator, he stops the fight claiming " I don't fight someone who has saved my life,"
The syndicate likes the Gladiator and choose him instead of the Marauder. They allow Daredevil to leave instead of going down to fight him. Apparently, they did not think of shooting him in the back as he left. They are bad guys and have guns.
As all of this happens, Karen and Foggy are back at the Garden arena looking for a now missing Matt. Karen begins to think a bit suspiciously about wether or not it is possible for a blind man to be Daredevil.
Cover :
The Daredevil Vs. Gladiator covers go 2 for 2 This is a brilliant action shot, and is also one of my favorite Daredevil covers.
Interior Art :
The larger panels Gene Colan draws does give it a modern feel. Unfortunately it also makes the book a faster read, and you can tell it is effecting the story. Still, the book looks good. No denying that.
STORY :
Okay, so I did like the arena match. I guess it was also inevitable that Daredevil would face the three villains. It seemed however, that no time was given to any character. I think we need to care about characters, if we are going to care what happens to them. I think both the Marauder, and Stan Lee needs to leave Daredevil at this point.
