Daredevil and the big robot
Summary :
This issue starts with Daredevil trying to land the big mechanical bird he defeated last issue. It is a timebomb, and he has to get himself and the judge ( remember him from 2 issues ago? ) off of it. After he does, he makes his return to the offices of Nelson and Murdock. There Karen is still pining away for Matt, and Foggy wishes she was pining away for him.
In the meantime,, The Marauder and the Gladiator are talking about their taking over the crime syndicate called, The Maggia. It was run by Count Nefaria, but he was defeated by the X-men. The Gladiator boasts about his strength, but then the Marauder begins to brag about his inventions, and his plan to kill Daredevil.
Yup, that is right. Instead of going straight to fight the Maggia, Marauder has a complete "Dr. Evil" moment and not only shows his #2 an evil plan, but then shows a peice of technology that if he copyrighted, he could be a billionairre. It is quite bizarre, and also a sign that Stan is coming to the end of his rope on Daredevil.
The big invention is a robot who can absorb the skills of humans. So they round up a 'rassler, a fast footed thief called the Dancer, and a mad scientist, and put all their skills into the robot. They than challenge Daredevil to a fight at Madison Square garden. Makes me wonder if they actually booked the hall.
Cover :
Much like inside the book, we see the two main villains watch as DD takes on their robot called the Tri Man.
No real image to centralize on, it does seem like an off cover. Not bad really, but not a real stand out.
Interior art :
Okay, so I have been making a lot of praises of Gene Colans art. Deservedly so to tell the truth. I have found a flaw in this issue. he actually made a one page splash, not of a cool action scene, but of Daredevil once again crawling through the window of Nelson Murdocks law offices. I have been liking the way he has been drawing Karen.
Story :
Silly and fun, there really is not much to think about this issue. It is filled with silver age stupidity. Including Karen giving blind Matt Murdock a Daredevil uniform so he can fight a robot. Once again, I think Stan is running out of decent things to do with Daredevil. Perhaps at this point he is just stretched to thin.
