Daniel Bardet worked for about fifteen years in the hi-fi field. Interested in history, he began his career as a screenwriter in 1982. Circus and Vécu (1986) pre-published Les Chemins de Malefosse based on a drawing by François Dermaut. The “realistic” plot unfolds against the backdrop of the religious wars at the end of the 16th century. According to Historia, “this great historical fresco is unanimously considered one of the models of its kind”. Bardet also collaborated with Patrick Jusseaume to launch Chronique de la maison Le Quéant in 1985. Then, with Erik Arnoux at the drawing, he scripted Timon des Blés. He continues with short stories in the years 1987-1989, entrusting the setting in images to various authors. These works appeared in 1989 in a collection entitled The Revolution at Last! (year of the bicentenary of the French Revolution). From 1990, the screenwriter wrote the Le Boche series with the Stalner brothers drawing. Still with Jean-Marc Stalner, Bardet undertakes the series Le Maître de pierre. In 1996 the Nordman series began. In 1998, first with Éric Chabbert then Michel Janvier, he started Doctor Monge. In 2006, Bardet adapted the classic of French literature: Les Misérables, with illustrator Bernard Capo and colorization by Arnaud Boutle. The original plates were exhibited in 2012 at the Victor-Hugo museum. In 2008, the screenwriter continued in this vein with Madame Bovary in a comic strip, based on a drawing by Michel Janvier. Le Figaro finds the initiative interesting and quite successful. Bardet also adapted in 2010, on drawings by Rachid Nawa, the Tales of a Thousand and One Nights. Daniel Bardet dies at the age of 79 the night of April 22 to 23, 2022 in Clichy.
