A truly exceptional cast, composed of internationally renowned opera singers, has been marshaled for an all-star performance in Prague. The opera that’s going to be put on is “Tales of Hoffman”, an unfinished masterpiece of the fantastic in which a poet struggles against multiple incarnations of the devil. The original score got destroyed in a fire on the first night. But Caleb Lost has it. And he can stage the accursed opera with the help of the composer in person, Jacque Offenbach, and a ghostly orchestra and choir that project no shadows. The singers discover, to their dismay, that the invisible public emits inhuman sounds, that real devils are at work on the stage and that they themselves are pawns in a dangerous supernatural challenge… It’s a highly risky gamble. What’s at stake, as well as the lives of the singers, is Caleb’s chance of staying in the magic city and even the loyalty of Tesla, who’s been duped by Prince Samael. But help is on its way for Harlan, Kurjak and Nikolaus: the Ameshas enter the fray on their side.
