    Decent Little Series

The whole 5 issue series is one story arc, so I will review it as such.

3 stars for writing/plot/story , 4 stars for the art/covers, 2 stars for the lettering

For starters, I never knew it existed until I found a copy of issue Dakota North #2 - Pet Tricks in a blind grab bag of 10 random comics (for $5.99) at TJ Maxx. I read the 1st few pages of that issue, looked it up here on the 'vine and then determined that I should find the remaining 4 issues to complete the run. I found them all in the $1 bargain basement at The Bookery and I was stoked to have found them all easily and cheaply.

Then I dived into the books. The story is fast paced and has plenty of action. There are some glaring plot holes and the characters' lines make you cringe at times because they are so cheesy, but Dakota is likable, fun and competent (nobody else is though). The art is very good, on par with most major Marvel titles of the Time. I do like the covers a lot. (enough to have them spend some time on my spinner rack display). The lettering in the panels could be better. I found it faint, small and hard to read unless I had plenty of light.

Bottom Line: don't try to compare Dakota North to more serious detective genre comics. She does not actually do any real detecting or investigating. This is more of a light action series. Take it for what it is.
