Be honest out of the two most most popular characters in x-men. who comes first in your mind when the topic of x-men comes up? Logan or Scott?
Cyclops
Character » Cyclops appears in 11209 issues.
The first X-Man, Scott Summers possesses the mutant ability to fire powerful concussive blasts through his eyes that act as a portal to another dimension full of the force that makes up his optic blast. He is visually distinctive for the ruby quartz visor he wears to control his devastating power. A born leader, Cyclops succeeded his mentor Professor X to command the X-Men.
Who comes to mind when you think of X-men:Wolverine or Cyclops?

Both. Cyclops is so iconic to the X-Men mythos but Wolverine, while being on more than one team, is more popular than Cyclops and is more known on the X-Men team than an Avenger.
uhh Storm. She's the Goddess and the True King of Wakanda.
No but seriously, Cyclops, Wolverine is at his best as a lone wolf. Not a Drill Sgt. with a heart of gold.
Always a fan of Cyclops but I want them to roll him back from the path they led him down. The only way to do that is to have him not be the leader of all the mutants by further breaking up the mutants as a whole. That way he will only be the leader of his team.
The need to stop trying to make Wolverine be everything and go back to what he actually is
Cyclops
Wolverine is more of an avenger than an x-man. It's shocking that he is teaching in a school. who would want a serial killer teaching their children? IMO
This is tough, but I guess I'll go with Cyclops since he was one of the original five X-Men. Wolverine had more of a presence in X-Men than in Avengers.
your options: wolverine. with no options: jean grey/ beast/ nightcrawler. cyclops is the last one that comes to mind due to douchness. ultimate douchness.
It so strange when you think about it. Cyke is the first X-men, the leader and the one Marvel wants to be the "face"of the team, but he still doesnt have a stature or an iconic status. It's like, i dont know...he is here, but not really "present" in pop culture(or geeky culture). Why is that, despite all the place the writers gave him in the team? Maybe he doesnt have the mass-appeal or "Cool" attitude, or maybe he is lacking a defining story arch revolving around him only(like the dark phoenix saga for jean). If somebody ask me to name 5 defining things about him, my answers will always involving others characters, like if Cyke was a supporting character or something.

Cyclops, the first of the X-Men. From day one he's been the iconic character of the team, going from being Xavier's golden boy to becoming the mutant commander we see now. Wolverine is certainly more popular, but Cyclops is the ultimate X-Man.
Cyclops. The first X-man, the leader, the one everyone looks up too (well did look up to). However since the X-men movies Cyclops has been seriously downplayed. If you watch those movies and focus on Cyclops he completely gets screwed.
Movie 1 - Too busy showing Jean flirt with Wolverine for him to really do anything.
Movie 2- Gets captured, mind controlled, then gets beaten up by Jean.
Movie 3- "Dies" in first 5 minutes of the god damn movie.
What happened was they took the fan love for Wolverine and mixed it with Hugh Jackman's star power. And the movie can't have 2 male leads so sucks to be Cyclops.
I dunno why but I always immediately just see the whole team as silhouetted figures with glowing X's on their chests every time I think X-men.
@jhazzroucher: thats odd i always think of : jean, professor X and then cyclops
odd way of putting it ^ ^
When I think of the X-Men I think of Cyclops the strong leader. Wolverine was always the reliable(in a crunch) soldier. I know there has been a huge editorial push in the last few years to further raise the profile of Wolverine, with him becoming a leader in Schism and now in the aftermath of Avengers vs X-Men his star is likely to raise further. He was already popular but his rise in stature among the X-Men has largely been at the expense of Cyclops. He has been continually portrayed to be more and more in a darker light and now as a host of the Phoenix force he is the 'bad guy'. Who does the establishment turn to, Wolverine.
Cyclops has been given a raw deal by writers. he unifies his people when they are the brink of extinction and for his trouble he is made out to be a dictator and militaristic nut-case. Cyke gets a huge raw deal and he takes it on the chin and continues to try and do write by his people.
wolverine on the other, always a loner suddenly becomes the shinning light and greatest leader the x-men have ever had. pfft. whatevs
CYCLOPS.
Wolverine is more "popular" and is probably in more X books than Cyke.
Yet...
When i see Cyclops i think of the X-Men
When i see Wolverine, i just think "Wolverine".
Cyclops is more central to the X-Men, whereas Wolverine is so spread thin he doesn't necassarily belong to anything now other than himself.
