I like the look. It could be that due to him hosting some of the Phoenix Force that it had some adverse effects on his abilities and now he's even more like his brother Alex, he has to wear a special suit to house and harness all that energy. X shaped beams or not, Cyke will still kick some ass and I'm definitely glad the writers have decided to make the X-men leader a formidable opponent because until the Ultimate line, I didn't like Captain America. So when Joss Whedon and Morrison jumped on X-men, I found new love and respect for Scott. The punk really can fight, I like that.

That's what I was kinda sorta thinkin. If the suit and visor is tied to his power in some way, it could be the optic energy coursing thru the suit to give it that red hue.

Great point. Costumes come and go, but making him a villain is a bigger thing. It's also a bit hard to judge a costume from one promo photo showing him from an odd angle.

Maybe a little hope for us? Because this new costume it's just, so strange and so new for me and I can't processing it...

I just don't get why it's a helmet/hood thing now. The X isn't so bad. It's really just the helmet.

@ScollSweges: There are two of them on that cover because one's from the past (teenager) and the other is the present Cyclops. If the character with the X-helmet is indeed Cyclops, I'm guessing the present day version will eventually change to this soon.

@Kal'smahboi: Why a helmet? Well... perhaps its story related. Magneto wears a helmet to prevent psychic attacks. Perhaps this is Marvel's way of making Cyclops the new Magneto?

MAJOR NAY! even the full slid red color is bad, it makes him have the appearence of some cyber ninja, or someone with the ability to have firebased powers!

the worst part is the visor, if anything needed to be changed it was his head, it made him look bald. i didnt like that. they need to go back where his hair stuck out and had his regular visor, maybe give him a color chang. this desgin is just too much.

I'm starting to think that the helmet is to block out telepathic attacks, kinda like Magneto has.

Good thing he has his modern costume again.

My only complaints are the colors of choice((too much red..!)), the pouches, and that's about it...the x-shaped visor I can cope with.

I Willing to bet he has a new visor because being a host to the Phoenix did something to him As a matter of fact it probably changed them all in some way , first there powers will act up then Stabilize at a much higher level

Being a host hasn't done anything to him. He's been shown with his visor plenty of times after the Phoenix was removed from him to show there is no residual effect.

Plus, he has his old costume back in the previews for All New X-Men

I just wish they showed Cyclops's hair, not cover it up. Oh well, i'm nit picking :p

That has to be the teenage version of Cyke, the older version would not work with the Uncanny Avengers, plus the older Scott is on the run from the Uncanny Avengers. Cyke is also shown in action with some of his Xmen after the events of AVX.Oh and about that costume, it's horrible.

What is this rubbish visor? The line of his eyes doesn't coincide with the "X".

The rest of the uniform is an interesting new look though.

Notice how his optic blast has this Circular look to it on one of the all new xmen covers, then I think in the January solicitation of cable an xforce they said something was wrong with colossus powers.

I don't even know if he can actually see with that costume. From the looks of it though, maybe Cyke can focus his optic blast into a very, very thin energy capable of cutting anything.

Think the writing's been pretty good with Uncanny X-Men, post Fraction.

He came out looking like the winner in AvX.

Hate it. The red costume was bad enough but they just had to add the freaking x shaped visor!

Maybe this is Cyclops new Mutant Terrorist persona. Maybe he is now a bad guy similar to Magneto, and has shunned being Cyclops.

I'm still standing by my belief that that is a horrendous costume design.

So far ALL NEW X-MEN previews have shown Cyclops in his "Utopia" costume.

1) MARVEL has heard the mostly NEGATIVE feedback to the the X-Visor look in the Marvel Now promo and have decided against going ahead with it?

2) It will be a matter of time (and part of the story arc) before Cyke switches to his new duds?

3) That character isn't the same Scott Summers Cyclops but someone else/an alternate or future version?

Well, it's happening.

I see 2 things happening.

1. Immonen keeps the Utopia costumes in ANXM while Bachalo keeps the new costumes in his uncanny book (kind of like an X-Force thing).

2. Immonen keeps the Utopia outfits for now but then later adopts the new design.

I'd much rather have option 1 happen.

@BlackArmor: It's possible and it did mention his powers are gonna be changed due to the PF. And I believe this has been hinted at previously from the ANXM 3 cover, but he is in his Utopia outfit. So maybe he has control over their trajectory now? Or hinting at you said, he could be radiating energy and this suit at least in the Uncanny storyline, unless it crosses over into ANXM, could be like a containment suit similar to Havok.

@BlackArmor: Well, he is definitely doing something and Bachalo did state the P5 will have something happening to their powers and that he was asked to do costume redesigns for the book which I am guessing Cykes might gain control of his powers and this suit could be some containment and also why the others have new costumes. Emma looks like she might even be going back to Black Queen from the looks of the shoulder guard, but I'm reaching on that. All we can do is wait.

Not really he had his visor on after avx . the fact that they Were not Meant to host the Phoenix Had side effects

@BlackArmor: Artists keeping things from getting stale perhaps? And X-Force I guess would be stealth purposes but quite frankly, idk. Fantomex just had black lines on his regular outfit, Wolverine was given silver where his yellow goes, Betsy had pants etc. Just different things but the outfits didn't really carry over.

Miss this character so much. It's like the world turned upside down, Wolverine is the good guy and Cyclops the one who does what's neccessiry for greater good even if it means killing. That's not the Cyclops i grew up and loved. Sure if the situation comes to the where is there is no other way, he should end the villain but what happened in avenger vs x-men was so out of character and Wolverine of all the person dares to judge him? Wolverine is currently thinking about killing his own son or the future apocalypse, hes in a team that fixes things by killing. The writers in Marvel are idiots, they have no respect for the characters at all.

I personally think Scott should just leave the X-men and take a long break. His wife has diead, his friends has left him and the world is against him. Now is the perfect time for Scott to leave the ungrateful X-men world.

His new look being a containment suit for his PF released powers is an interesting thought.

I always thought that Cyclops was like Blackbolt of the Inhumans. In leadership as well as in how they must stay in control of their powers.

I'm really interested to see how his powers will evolve.

All the members of the O5 have had updates to their powers except Cyclops.

Bachalo's art makes the X-visor look better. So I guess I went from Nay to indifferent.

Nay. 90s-clops is the best-clops, but if he can't feel the wind in his hair, the Utopia costume is the best. Why change it, unless you're worried about people mixing him up with O5-clops?
