So after AvX we get some new costume designs for plenty of Marvel characters and on the Marvel now poster we get a look at (potentially) Cyclops' new costume. And I say potentially because there are plenty of rumors and speculation around him. Some include he may die after AvX or it may be O5-clops.

But say it is him. What is your guys opinion on it in advance? Personally, I've grown to think it is alright. I still like the dark blue and gold, but red or possibly black or blue (glowing red due to optic blast) doesn't look so bad. I think if it is his outfit then it kind of symbolizes both Magneto and Xavier's influence on Cyclops in physical form. The possible red and Magneto helmet-esque looking hood/mask looks like Mags' helmet and the X on the belt and X shaped visor symbolizes his connection to the X-Men. I'm still not in favor of the X shaped visor though.

That costume, imho, is horrible. Looks like Marvel is hell-bent on covering up more of Scott's face.

I've given it some time though and it has grown on me. Even the X shaped visor.

Don't mind him wearing red, the visor simply looks ridiculous.

If he has an 'X' on his visor then why does he need one on his belt. That's the one thing that annoyed me about X-Men costumes of the nineties-era and early two-thousand was the over-saturation of 'X's" on the their costumes. One 'X' per costume please. Given the possible allusion to Magneto I can forgive the helmet and could even go with a visor that's literally circular-shaped as that's something that's only been explored in his Mangaverse self. Heh, it'd even be interesting if the helmet provided protection from telepathic attacks.

I'd rather his costume be blue as of now he just looks like Dare Devil. Red is already a strong enough color as is and at best should be used in moderate amounts. If I was to even go with a color outside of blue then I'd even incorporate the old-school black and gold motif of the Jack Kirby/Stan Lee. What better way to allude to his background with Professor Xavier than by taking his uniform back to its' roots. I'd go with an all black color scheme but add some gold trim for accents, then apply red in select amounts.

Really, the biggest offender to me,((And I know that this is going to sound weird...)) is the belt. I've never understood the purpose of a belt on a spandex suit. I'm sure that there's so purpose for the pouches but if Cykes didn't use them during the nineties then why would he use them now.

I think the X shaped visor is just visually awesome! I mean he's going to be shooting X shaped beams!

@One_Eye: Yeah. I don't understand the visor at all. And I agree with your sentiment on it, though I don't mind the design. A black or dark blue would be cooler, but we don't even know if it is red. That could just be the glow due to optic blasts.

Take away the stupid X-visor, and the costume is ok.

Nay, looks very silly, prefer his 90s and astonishing X-men Costume.

Big effing NAY. They're ditching Cyclop's best costume of all time--the Whedon Astonishing costume--for this? And for the silly "X" visor? The only way to improve upon his current costume is to throw a gray duster over it. This is KNOWN.

Oh, but I don't mind the belt-less X-shoulder variation they're using recently.

Nay I prefer his classic more iconic visor, it was instantly recognizable among comic fans and an integral focal point of most of his previous designs. Can we really say that this is Cyclops without the classic visor?

Nay. The helmet looks beyond ridiculous and the outfit just has too many things going on (POUCHES!! NEEDS MORE POUCHES!!) in my opinion. I would have preferred his original Astonishing costume or the revamped version without the hood or something simple but distinct like his Age of X costume.
