The cult is known by many names such as the Cult of Kali, the Cult of Kara-Kai, Phansigars, Thuggees and Dacoits, and from the 19th century onwards, it followed the orders of Fu Manchu, decades later, some followed his daughter, Fah Lo Suee.
The cult has become prominent in the careers of Iron Fist, Shang-Chi and the Shroud. In fact, the cult was responsible in part of the supernatural and mystic abilities of the Shroud.
In Captain America Comics #34 (November, 1943), where they serve Princess Ramasi, who claims to be the daughter of the goddess Kali, however, she is an undercover Japanese spy.
Though associated with Fu Manchu and Fah Lo Suee in the novels, this interaction is not shown in the comics, however, in Marvel Atlas says that the Cult of Kali are part of Fu Manchu's Celestial Order of the Si-Fan.
Creation
Kali is a Hindu goddess and her cult can be traced back to the 8th century, the Cult of Kali serving Fu Manchu and Fah Lo Suee was the creation by the author Sax Rohmer, and first appeared in his 1913 novel The Mystery of Dr. Fu-Manchu.
