Crane Mother

Crane Mother is a mystic and ruler of Ku'n-Zi, one of the Legendary Cities of Heaven. In 1933, a meeting took place with all seven lords where Crane Mother accused Orson Randall, the Iron Fist of that time of sullying tradition because he refused to participate in the Tournament of the Heavenly Cities. All council members except Yu-Ti, the leader of Ku'n-Lun agreed that Orson Randall should pay and face punishment. Orson Randall would be confronted by the Immortal Weapons and he ended up killing the Immortal Weapon of Ku'n-Zi. Orson Randall would elude capture and Crane Mother had a personal vendetta against him ever since. Years later, Crane Mother would resurrect Davos the Steel Serpent and charge him of hunting down Orson Randall. Crane Mother would provide Davos her Crane Daughters to assist him and grant him enhanced powers by draining their chi whenever needed.

The Steel Serpent would join forces with HYDRA to hunt down Orson Randall and Danny Rand, the current Iron Fist. Orson Randall informs Rand that Crane Mother is orchestrating the attempts on their life. Steel Serpent, the Crane Daughters and HYDRA would ambush Orson Randall and Iron Fist. Orson Randall gives Rand the Book of the Iron Fists and tells him that he will need it for the tournament before he died. Yu-Ti and Lei Kung appear after Orson Randall's death and take Iron Fist to the Tournament of the Heavenly Cities where Crane Mother appoints Steel Serpent as the representative Immortal Weapon of Ku'n-Zi. Iron Fist is enraged when he sees Davos but Crane Mother reminds him that conflict between the Immortal Weapons are forbidden before the tournament. Crane Mother would cast out the holy tiles to see which Immortal Weapon would provide entertainment during the first night at the Heart of Heaven. The tiles says Fat Cobra would face off against one hundred of the finest Shaolin Terror Priests from around the world. Fat Cobra decimates the priests with his amazing abilities and Crane Mother allows him to pick his first opponent for the tournament. Fat Cobra would select the Immortal Weapon of Ku'n-Lun, Iron Fist as his first opponent.

Creation

Crane Mother was created by Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction and David Aja in 2007 and first appeared in The Immortal Iron Fist # 4.
