The open source character of Free Bird, created by Corey Grant, has been released to the Public Domain, and is available for use by anyone with only the following conditions: this paragraph must be included in any publication involving Free Bird, in order that others may use this property as they wish, following the same rules as Public Domain properties. The main rule being that your version's story cannot be like the story of anyone else's version (meaning: you may not reference elements from the story you find the character in, because they belong to that story's author, and are not open source).

There is no "Free Bird" character listed on Comic Vine, so as far as I can tell, the name is not being used in comics. Therefore, it's viable as an Open Source Character.

The closest names I found on Comic Vine:

• .King Freebird. (Aw Yeah Comics!)

I have my own Freebird in my original fiction universe, and because of that, I know I have run across at least one character out there just named "Freebird" (pretty sure it was two). I really thought one was in Hero Happy Hour, but I couldn't find evidence of it online, so I'll have to find my copy of it.

Whatever the case, it's obviously inspired by the "Free Bird" song by Lynyrd Skynyrd, and I think that falls under fair use, but I'm really not certain. Of all the characters though, including mine, Corey Grant is the only one who spelled it correctly as two words (if going by the song, I mean).
