Chang is attacking the Enterprise for crimes he claims Kirk perpetrated and then he is gifted with a Sinestro Corps Ring. Not knowing what it is he uses the power to continue his assault on the ship up until Hal Jordan arrives and helps the Enterprise retreat.

Chang then goes to the Klingon home world and uses his new power to instill fear in the Klingon High Council killing many. That is when Sinestro arrives and orders Chang to obey him. Chang refuses but when Sinestro reveals his true power, Chang is forced to summit.

Later, Sinestro and Chang attack the Enterprise, this time with the aide of Atrocitus, Larfleeze and their new corp members Glocon and Decius. But their attacks seems to be effective then Nekron makes his presence know on Vulcan and Sinestro, Hal, and Enterprise leave to deal with him. This leaves Chang to fight Glocon, and Decius on his own.

Later Chang's ring leaves him to join the other ring to create The Entity, leaving Chang to die in the vacuum of space, completely powerless.
