There hasn't been a decent enough adaptation of her to really have a front runner they are all bad.Having said that I am not above picking one, of course I have to go with the majority if only because Michelle's Catwoman was the only one I have ever seen and she was memorable in this role if not only because of her insanity (crazy cat lady with a whip).

 i liked all of them  in one way or another i’d have to say...

i never really saw eartha kit play catwoman :(   i bet she was good. i've only seen some clips.  it's very hard for me to watch those antiquated episodes as an adult though, i will admit. lol    

i really liked the idea behind the catwoman movie.  it would explain why so many different women have had this title; also that there's a reason (i.e. an egyptian/african deity souping them up) that these women have these powers and abilities, not just willy nilly, out of no where.  i think more time and thought should have gone into this movie.  it wasn't as bad as many make it out to be in my opinion, but it could have been better with more time and effort.  halle was the most beautiful catwoman too.  then probably julie newmar.

i did like pfeiffer's catwoman, but i found her psychosis unsettling.  meriweather was cute in the movie--esp her fashion if i recall, but my taste is more for the felinity (but not craziness) of berry and newmar.

so my vote would have to be:  halle berry!

and, yes,  i think a black woman is very fitting as a catwoman, as berry and kit exemplify clearly.

Without Julie Newmar, Catwoman wouldn't have been a household name. Without Michelle Pfeiffer, she wouldn't have had her own ongoing.

There really hasn't been anyone that I thought was bad in the role (I didn't see the whole Catwoman movie so I can't make any claims, what I've seen is terrible though).  That said I think Michelle's performance so far is the best, but in my eyes there's yet to be a definitive movie/tv version of Catwoman.
