Tomorrow Is A Thief Of Pleasure

    The Story:

Catwoman steals a painting that will come back to haunt her.

    My Thoughts:

I'm sure by now everyone has heard how controversial the first issue of Catwoman was. Many showed a strong dislike towards it while others accepted it. I was one of the latter and was anxious to read this second issue. Everything I had hoped for happened in this issue. The sexuality was almost nonexistent and a story began to unfold. And what a great story it's shaping up to be.

As expected the issue begins with the morning after…you know. It wrapped up pretty quickly only taking three of the issues pages. From there on the story picks up as Catwoman steals yet another painting. What I liked was what happened at the party where we see both Bruce and Selina out of costume. They interact briefly as Bruce pretends to play the drunken playboy knowing fully well he's talking to Catwoman. Once the bullets start flying Bruce has to restrain himself to protect his identity rather than chase after her. I liked that part and felt Winick hit everyones character dead on.

The ending is without a doubt the most exciting part of this issue. I was so glad to see the T+ rating is for more than just sexuality as we get a shot of a certain person-- who I won't name-- tortured at the hands of yet another new villain in Gotham named Bone. He certainly looks as if he'll fit right in with the rest of the Gotham crime scene. His men beat Catwoman until she's bloody. Glad to see Winick take this approach. I'm so excited to see what happens next now.

I'm really enjoying Guillem March's artwork on this series. He's someone I wasn't familiar with prior to reading this series but I'd love to see more of his work. Together with Winick they're making quite the deadly combination. The art is like Catwoman, both sexy and deadly. And that cover is simply gorgeous.

I recommend reading this series. I'm not one of the people who are taking great offense by this. I'm actually enjoying it quite a lot. Judd Winick is certainly the right guy for the job as it's right down his alley. I haven't regretted picking up a single issue yet and don't imagine I will anytime soon.

    Rating: 5/5

So the last issue ended with the fanfiction-y cheesecake ending of Catwoman and Batman getting it on or about to get it on. This issue seems to make it clear they hadn't done the nasty just yet. So it starts off with a bit more fan service as Batman and Catwoman snuggle post-coitus.When Batman tries to pry and find out if she's actually OK, she bolts. I think this helps bring the whole sex thing back from having gone a little too far. It's not just a booty call for Batman. He actually has feelin...

This is the second iteration of the new sexier Catwoman.  Here we find the after effects of the previous issues meetup between Batman and Catwoman before the action kicks into high gear.  In reality this series if it is trying to sell itself on a sexual image would do a lot better by more sexier things in here.  A woman in too much makeup and a minidress is not necessarily sexy (could be construed as something more like trashy.)  When the story actually picks up though and leaves those aspects b...
