Ann Nocenti's Catwoman is a truly terrible series. It's so bad it makes the Halle Berry movie look good. I can't even imagine how Nocenti can possibly think she deserves it to be published once she hands in her scripts. I can't imagine how every single editor doesn't just install copies of her Catwoman scripts in the bathroom as emergency toilet paper.

Catwoman is incarcerated in an Arkham that is completely unlike any Arkham I've EVER seen. I think this is something Nocenti saw in a dream or something, because that's clearly not Arkham. Oh and side-note, this is the single most obvious of all the foldout covers.

Catwoman's in Arkham for a single full page.

Then we see why and how she got there.

But she snuck in all her weapons because the JLA told them not to search her for weapons. I wish I was joking, I really do.

The instant she's locked up, she breaks out. I thought the idea was for her to find the Secret Society there? And I have NO IDEA how she spent the time to talk Vortex into spitting out his pills long enough to return him to full insanity IF SHE BROKE OUT IN 48 HOURS. And of course he immediately becomes a threat, and she takes him down.

And Black Mask of all people delivers jumbled cryptic advice that's oddly specific, and it leads her into the most insane underground labyrithine ruins for her to..... ignore. Great. The ONE interesting thing in this issue, and you avoid it. Sigh.

    In Conclusion: 1/5

Ann Nocenti's Catwoman manages to be both insanely rushed, and excessively dialogue heavy at the same time. I'm not even sure how that's possible and I witnessed it first hand. Rafa Sandoval's art is literally the only good thing about this series, but even that is counterbalanced by the excessive level of terrible this series has. It's so bad, it nearly negates the validity of the one good point.

SlamOh, Selina. How the mighty have fallen. You were once the ultimate adventurer. You were once a proud antihero. You are now a flighty, senseless creature who is difficult to enjoy on any level, but I'm trying to enjoy you. I really am. I just wish your writer would get off the drugs and pay you some respect. I've already seen enough from the preview to know this issue will probably be another stinker, but I'm willing for you to impress me. Please surprise me, Selina. I know there is a great ...
