Carlos Ezquerra started his career in Spain, drawing westerns and war stories for Spanish publishers. In 1974, on the strength of his uncredited work for The Wizard, he was headhunted to work for the new UK war title Battle Picture Weekly.
Carlos illustrated Rat Pack, Major Eazy, El Mestizo and a wide variety of covers for Battle over the next two and a half years until he was asked to create the visuals for a new character with John Wagner - Judge Dredd for 2000AD.
In 1978 he and John Wagner collaborated again on another classic creation - Strontium Dog for Starlord. Although the comic was destined to only last 22 issues, Strontium Dog made the jump to 2000AD when the two comics merged. The strip is still going strong today (and still written and illustrated by John and Carlos).
Carlos has also worked across the pond for US publishers, where he has illustrated Bloody Mary, Adventures in the Rifle Brigade, War Stories, Hitman, Bob the Galactic Bum and two Preacher specials (The Good Old Boys and The Saint of Killers).
