    As Human As You...

    Recommendation: “YES!”

Back in time - In the midst of battle - An unexpected destiny calls...

As you may have expected, I am still very excited about this series! The art - I cannot tell you how much I LOVE this art. As kellysue stated during a recent Q&A Panel, "Dex's work just keeps getting more and more Epic." - I agree. Each page is a portrait. I also like it because it is so different. It is certainly not main stream... but I certainly wouldn't mind it if it was. :)

The McGuinness covers on the issues so far have been perfect for the series. They really symbolize what this arc is all about - powerful women, kicking ass.

This cover is no exception. It found myself staring at it, trying to figure out what it reminded me of... I even spent a good amount of time searching through image searches to find something that might jog my memory - alas, I couldn't find the exact image I was thinking of... instead, I found a bunch of great WW2 Propaganda Posters, some of which are perfect for this issue (much like the "We Can Do It!" Rosie the Riveter inspired cover from last issue). I have included two of the posters that most fit with the theme of this issue (especially the interlude on pages 17-18).

The story continues to amaze and entertain. I love that kellysue has included Time Travel, Kree Technology, Cosmic Powers AND a Squad of WW2 Battle-Hardened Women Fighters - all in one well paced and fantastically written story.

I particularly enjoyed how Carol went from "merciful" to "threatening" in the blink of an eye - seeing her character develop organically from situation to situation really makes the overall story more inviting. In fact, the discovery and evolution of "Carol Danvers" from "Human" to "Captain Marvel" (through "Ms. Marvel") is the most intriguing aspect to this book - that, and all the other cool stuff going on in the background.

Like the characters in the book, you get the feeling that the creators are putting their hearts, minds and souls into this story. If you haven't already, be sure to pick up Issues #1 and #2 today. In fact, pre-order the upcoming issue #7 and TPB! You will not be disappointed!

The GoodOne of the best parts of this series is Deconnick's way of blending heavy action and emotional scenes so well if not so evident in this issue as much as the other issues but it's still evident here. The action scenes in this issue are great the dialogue is perfect and so is the art. There's one scene in this issue I loved it just proves how determined Carol is to prove herself. The art by Dexter Soy is great it's so different and pretty to look at.The BadI don't know if it's just me but ...

It seems to me that with this arc Kelly Sue DeConnick is trying to retroactively make Carol the FIRST Captain Marvel, the same way Hippolyta became the first Wonder Woman by traveling to the past. I like the idea because that way Carol and Mar-Vell inspired each other and BOTH would be the original Captain Marvel. Please check my mini-review of Captain Marvel #3 here:http://bit.ly/Sc8BP0Comments and feedback are always welcome!...
