Here's a bit of news that you may have heard already.  It first came out earlier this week but I wasn't able to get to it.  After Torchwood: Children Of Earth (which pretty much everyone that saw it will admit it ruled), we were left wanting more and wondering what would be next.

According to io9, Russell T Davies has said that when the show returns, it may not be the Torchwood we are expecting to see.  Digital Spy has a quote from actor John Barrowman ( Captain Jack Harkness) when he spoke to Radio 1:

I'm off to Los Angeles on Sunday again. I probably shouldn't say this but I've got a meeting with the execs of Desperate Housewives.

Can you believe it - I'm going to be a Desperate Housewife!

Why and how Desperate Housewives is still on the air, I have no idea.  While this could be good for Barrowman's career, getting him more American exposure, I'm sure we can all agree that this basically sucks.

I sort of hate both shows, though I've only seen one episode of Torchwood. Sometimes I watch Housewives with my mother and sister when I'm bored at night. It was okay, had some funny moments, and then they jumped ahead five years and the whole thing went downhill, fast in my opinion.

Maybe with him in the show they'll introduce a character that I don't hate.

I only saw one episode so take from this what you will:

Acting I found to be sometimes hilariously over-the-top, dialogue in general was a bit of a "wtf", special effects partially made me want to turn the tv off and it's got that incredibly strange and (to me) not good camera quality. Again, this one only one episode, but I have no strong inclination to watch another.

Yes, my opinion is probably stupid. I've resigned to that, and I don't care.

If it makes you feel any better, I hated that last season of Desperate Housewives probably more than that episode of Torchwood.

Lets face it Torchwood was a steaming pile of cack until the last five episodes. It was more concerned with metrosexuality and shocking people than a decent story line. The second episode of the first series with the sex alien/ghost thing. My god. But then they pulled out all the stops, that monkey Davis got someone to help him write and lo and behold gripping TV was born. Still i'm glad they killed everyone (excpet Gwen who's accent is the best really) and also i'm glad that it put Wales in the mind of the rest of the world. We need some decent P.R. or at least some good European funding.
I can't comment on desperate house wives but I'm guessing it's shit.

It'd be good for Barrowman to get back into some American atmosphere (I know he's British really), but why did he choose Desperate Housewives? He should go back to Torchwood when he has the chance.

So John Barrowman maybe moving to a show more smutty, more terrifying and more far-fetched than Torchwood could ever be. Wow. Maybe he'll play a straight guy, a major acting challenge for the man who was considered too butch to play the homosexual Will in Will and Grace. Mind you, I think the blokes in Wysteria Lane are better looking. In the words of Stewie Griffin "Did you check out the redhead? oh my God, its like someone pulled silly putty over their knee"

This reminds me of when Michael Praed left his starring role as Robin Hood to join the cast of Dynasty.  Only to be replaced by Jason (son of James Bond) Connery.

In fact, I'm convinced the character of Lois Abiba was only created to replace Martha Jones.  They set it up for Martha to join Torchwood at the end of Dr Who series 4, but then Freema Agyeman landed a role in Law & Order: UK...

we've been overdue for one of these crossovers. i mean the last major crossover was Dimensions in time, and that was with the soap Eastenders.

Although, how weird would it be for John Barrowman and Nathan Fillion to be in a scene together?  It's like a sci-fi crossover that would be super-awesome, but on Desperate Housewives instead.

Is Nathan even still on the show?

Its an interesting thing for him to do, but at the end of Torchwood he basically left so I can see how this would fit, Also Torchwood may not be on are screens again and considering how people are killed off in DHW then I really don't think this will effect torchwood at all.

I'd rather watch Torchwood than Desperate Housewives.  DH seems like such a worthless show, like Lost.

Nah, but at least he went out good. He rescued his ex-wife from her other psycho ex-husband.

Even if he does, Torchwood's filming schedule is completely different to regular ones, so he should be able to film both.

I am kinda disappointed because most of the regulars have been cut and that makes me so sad, because they were spectacular characters (although, luckily, my favourite is still left).  Knowing Davies, he'll try and pull some old Whoians into it.  Sadly, I doubt Freema Agyman will appear as she's busy with "Law & Order: UK" which is why she did not star in this season, and Noel Clarke is busy with other projects.

Personally, I would like to see Liz May Brice back as Agent Johnson because she had that cold old Captain Jack persona about her.  I would also like to see Rose, because I think she could be kick ass there, and she does have certain knowledge with technology, as proven in DW S4.  Plus, she has matured immensely, and it would be nice to see a blonde on the team.  Beyond that, I'm not sure.  Maybe Adam from season one of Doctor Who, because it would be cool for continuity, plus he has experience with alien tech.  And medic wise, not sure.

Oh, and if not Agent Johnson, how about Jenny from "The Doctor's Daughter"?
