    When Captain Atom became Monarch he seemed to gain a massive power boost (even before he absorbed all his counter-parts from the entire DC multiverse). What I'm asking is how did he get that powerful, what gave him the incredible power boost he had, and is there any chance he still has that kind of power.

    There was an increase in willpower, thus making him more powerful than he normally is. It was basically Captain Atom, but without any qualms of holding back. Willpower dictates his ability to use the Quantum Field. He could attain this power if he wanted, but he chooses not to.
