    When did Captain America first don the classic disc shield we all know and love? Was there a reason he switched?

    Yup the reason for the switch is that the shape of the 1st shield was looking a lot like The Shield (superhero January 1940) a comic book superhero by publisher MLJ (makers of archie comics)due to their complains the shield from Captain America #1 March 1941 was replaced by the discus shaped shield in Captain America #2.
