Captain America: The Winter Soldier
This is a great film. Its so good that they should have released this later on in the summer (about May or June). But still, I am glad to see this film. It does have a couple of camera issues but none that will ruin the film. The story in this film lets all the characters shine (including the people in shield). Too bad this will be the only film in phase 2 not counting Guardians of the Galaxy since isn't going to have anything to do with Avengers: Age of Ultron that I can watch over and over again. Thor: Dark World was meh, and Iron Man 3 I just don't care.
Just got back from seeing it working on a review of it now. Overall it's good verging on very good but undone by the blockbuster mandate (something Guardians of the Galaxy can hopefully better aclimate).
The Russo Brohers work in TV shows as they appropriate the Marvel House Style well. Action was surprisingly well done.
Here's a cheap plug to my User Review of Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Just re-watched it just now...
Marvel has raise the bar again, Avengers: AoU and Cap 3 better lives up to it...
Excellent movie. Well directed, really exciting. Loved how Cap, Black Widow, and Falcon were handled as characters. The dialogue was really well written. Good humor but it was well balanced. The Winter Soldier topped Avengers as Marvel's best comic book movie in my mind. I will say I wasn't impressed by the end credits scenes-maybe they just weren't my favorite characters.
Can't wait for next cap movie!
I REALLY REALLY Enjoyed this movie. I have been pretty critical of the Marvel films with the exception of Iron Man 1 and 3. This actually felt like THE first Marvel film that was geared toward a more adult audience. The funny thing was that within a minute of eachother both of my friends on either side leaned in and whispered: "I think they've killed more people in this movie than in Avengers." This is just a really good movie with heavy consequences. During the film you can really feel the weight of the action, unlike Avengers which felt like a video game. My only gripe was that some of the action bounced back and forth between regular panned visuals and shaky cam. The shaky cam action really made it difficult to see what was going on at some points, but I guess that is necessary to a certain level in a superhero action movie.
Better than Avengers, easy.
What I actually loved about this film was the fact that nowhere did it feel like I needed to see Avengers before this to understand what's going on. Even though this movie does take place after Avengers and does make mention of the events in that movie at least once, never throughout the film did it feel like I had to watch Avengers before hand to enjoy this one.
Something that many complained about in IM3 was the constant reminder of what happened in Avengers, and even Thor 2 had a few mentions. But I really feel like you could watch both the first Cap movie and this one back to back, without having to watch The Avengers, and not be lost or feel like you're missing something.
@jayc1324: Lmfao that was a funny joke bro!

Winter Soldier was like a natural evolution to what happened in Cap 1 and the Avengers without the need for any forced exposition or references that would get in the way of it's own story.
@lone_wolf_and_cub: No ones joking here

Agreed. I think there was like only one reference to the Avengers in the movie total. It really felt like a continuation to Cap 1, picking up where the first movie left off with Steve in the present day and trying to adjust to modern times. While there were references to other characters in the MCU, it wasn't so overbearing and in your face that it bogged down the story all together. Any mentions or references were subtle and quick, being little reminders of the movie being a part of a larger universe while still managing to keep the viewer engaged and focused on Captain America and his story.
@jayc1324: only you
@lone_wolf_and_cub: not me eiter
I saw it today and it was really exciting. The plot felt a little obvious but i think that's just in the wake of hearing the Giant Bomb crew talk extensively about "the government is evil" storylines in pop-culture.
I enjoyed seeing Emily VanCamp in it and i wish they had more time to build her character. Disappointing that they only refer to her as 'Sharon' until the end, also no hint that she's related to Peggy Carter.
Just saw it today and man was it good, definitely the best of the Phase 2 films. I wonder how the outcome of what happened is gonna effect Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. though
VERY good movie. Captain was pure beast mode the entire film. So much ass beating. And the Winter Soldier was actually menacing and dangerous feeling.
*** 1/2
Just watched it this afternoon and loved it. The fight scenes and action choreography were out of this world. 5/5, and officially my favorite Marvel Studios film yet.
As of now, if I had to rate how I enjoyed the Marvel movies, it would be;
1 Iron Man
2. Captain America: Winter Soldier
3. The Avengers
4. Thor
5. The Incredible Hulk
6. Iron Man 2
7. Captain America: The First Avenger
8. Thor: The Dark World
9. Iron Man 3
Spot on in the conspiracy element that made the best comics starring Captain America.
No cosmic menaces or asgardian or magic caracters...
A thrilling spy movie in the Marvel way.... Best MU movie to date!
That ending really makes me feel like Avengers 2 is going to be a total clusterf**k. You got Loki on the throne, Tony's lost all his suits, SHIELD's dissolved, Hydra's as strong as ever, Loki's Scepter, Scarlett and Quicksilver and at some point Ultron's going to jump in.
Didn't expect Hydra to be behind Howard Stark's death. But it all makes sense in hindsight.
So Iron Man is retired and S.H.I.E.L.D. is disbanded. Jesus, let's just hand Ultron the world now and save him the trouble while we're at it.

Speaking of the fight choreography: When Cap and Winter Soldier went mono-a-mono in the street my first thought was how is there not an Injustice style game but with Marvel characters?
