Extra-dimensional creatures have attacked Connie Ferrari. Can Cap save her before it's too late?

A Maximum Security tie-In, occurring simultaneous to Maximum Security #1.

After Connie Ferrari is nearly overtaken on the street by rogue aliens Captain America slips out of his apartment to head to the Avengers' Mansion to see how the team plans to deal with the invasion.

There he meets Sarron, an inventor who requires the unique makeup of Cap's shield to power a device that will blast the alien invasion back to their own respective planets. However, the request is a trick – Sarron is really Mercurio in disguise, and he want to use the shield to transport himself off of Earth – at the expense of Captain America and the Statue of Liberty! Cap thwarts his plans, and Mercurio is seemingly blasted into nothingness.

Captain America hauls himself out of the bay, intent on finding the Avengers so they can repel the alien incursion.

Maximum Security Escapee Hijacks Captain America 0

Captain America's solo title gets sucked into the Maxmium Security story arc for a tie-in issue, though its connection to the main story is tentative at best. Story & Script Dan Jurgens conjures a simple means of tying Cap into the larger arc – maybe a little too simple. The action between Cap and the aliens is unremarkable, his motorcycle ride is pure Batman, and Mecurio makes him look like an utter novice. The issue would have been more enjoyable if Captain America was a little more effect...
