Working for rival crime bosses in New York City, Henry Cannon and Marschall Saber met and soon formed a romantic relationship as well as a business partnership.
Creation
Cannon and Saber were created by Marv Wolfman, Keith Pollard, and Romeo Tanghal. They first appeared in Vigilante #5.
Major Story Arcs
Vigilante
Cannon and Saber work together to create a power vacuum in New York by assassinating each others' bosses at the behest of District Attorney Marcia King, who seeks to put herself in the newly vacated positions of power. Because of this she helps them when they are arrested and recommends them for Witness Protection. This brings them to the attention of Vigilante, establishing an enmity between them that carries on through various encounters over the years. They nearly kill him in this first encounter, but are prevented from doing so by the intervention of Electrocutioner, who nearly kills both of them. They escape from the hospital and continue operating as a team of assassins for hire. They are hired to assassinate Vigilante, but are prevented from doing so when Saber becomes seriously wounded, and Cannon chooses to withdraw rather than risking his partner's life. Later still, they are manipulated by Vigilante into turning against one another, and they nearly manage to kill each other, though both manage to survive their wounds.
