    Iffy

I want to start by saying this could have been worse. The animation quality is top notch (not like the Toy Story Movies, but better than the regular series following this pilot movie which began the Star Comand Show). I want to also point out I haven't seen many episodes of this show, so I have no idea if it is good or not (though the two I have checked out leave much to be desired what with their cheesiness).

This story takes one of the stars of Toy story and puts a back story to why (as a toy) he was made and what franchise he was based on (which is peculiar as the toys came before this tv series). This show is littered with parodies. For example, in some aspects it is quite similar to Star Trek and its Federation, while Zurg is kin to Darth Vader with a Disney Villain flare for the dramatics. It is also interesting to note that Buzz's ship is the number 42 (the meaning of life).

Comparing this pilot to the pixar movies is like saying an original Detective comics 27 is of the same value as the whole Batman Odyssey series (one is gold and one is rubish. guess which one is which). Of course I must give them one leg up on Batman odyssey: the idea is actully entertaining. The series promises a wondrous ride if you forget about the whole toy story series. The plot is, admittably, thin and the thing which is suposed to be a suprise:

is really quite forseeable. Of course this was made for children, so it might be all right.
All and all, an interesting pilot (too bad Tim Allen couldn't do the tv show. That honor goes to Patrick Warburton).

A classic that still holds up today! 0

Buzz Lightyear of Starcommand (the adventure begins) is a part of my childhood that holds dear to me even to today! A terrific blend of action, clever writing, and brilliant animation that any Man, Child, or Science fiction geek would enjoy! At its heart, this movie is one of the best showcases of the Classic Black and white good versus evil story. It has the Grandure and fun that seems to be lost from the current assortment of TV and movies of today. ...
