Origin
The Bumpkin family - Pa (C. Bumpkin), Ma, Billy and Daisy - lived in blissful poverty on their farm until Pa unexpectedly struck it rich by winning the treble chance on the Football Pools, turning them overnight into billionaires. Determing that they didn't think too much of all the (literally) sackloads of money dumped on their farm, since it didn't taste very nice and cluttered up the yard, they began working on ways to rapidly get rid of their unwanted wealth, only to find that each scheme merely made them richer.
Creation
The Bumpkin Billionaires were created by Mike Lacey and debuted in Whoopee! issue 1 in 1974. A fan favourite, it survived Whoopee!s merger into Whizzer and Chips, and then that title's subsequent merger into Buster, where it continued up until Buster's final issue in 2000.
